Monday's Child

I have been writing some new songs lately, and also writing new words to other people’s songs. Today’s is not a song, but a poem.

Monday’s child will mask their face, Tuesday’s child leaves no trace, Wednesday’s child defeats their foe, Thursday’s child fights status quo, Friday’s child supports mutual aid, Saturday’s child unionizes to get paid, And the child that is born on the Sabbath day Is anarchist, witchy, ADHD, and gay;

I designed the t-shirt above several months before re-writing the poem, and the last line being blank is intended as an ADHD joke. I suspect the god botherers will be most offended by the idea that being born on Sunday makes you gay, which is funny because that is the only part I left in from the original nursery rhyme via:

Monday’s child is fair of face, Tuesday’s child is full of grace, Wednesday’s child is full of woe, Thursday’s child has far to go, Friday’s child is loving and giving, Saturday’s child works hard for his living, And the child that is born on the Sabbath day Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay;

In other news, I’ve been trying to resurrect my blog since I’m 99% off social media now. After strugging to get Jekyll working under Windows (ironic since I switched to Jekyll so I wouldn’t have to keep tinkering with my blogging software), I switched my main computer to Linux. I was planning to do that in any case, since Windows 10 support ends this year, and Windows 11 is a stinking pile of poo. So that took some time, but is working well now. That’s the long way of saying, this is my first post in a loooong time, but hopefully I’ll be posting more regularly now.

Also, the format has changed. Jekyll changed a lot since I last used it, and that broke my scripts and templates. So I’m going simpler, but will need to tweak the CSS some more. I’ll do a pass through the whole blog to see what’s broken and try to fix that stuff first. Because there is no escape from futzing with the blogging tool instead of blogging.

Thanks for reading!
