Human Contact

A poem inspired by this video on Contact Improvisation:

Human Contact

touch slides across her
gliding steps
moving attention together
responding inflections
step and fall
breathe
curl over shoulder
breathe
check
roll
apart
connection present
breathe

missed depth
daily human contact
holding breath
anonymous strangers
crowded bus
flinching from touch
casual bump apologies
press

secret tensions
unfolding private nerves
first massage
muscles and skin
sensual exploration
awareness of knots
deepest breaths
release of armor
exquisite invasions
learning trust

pulse of heartbeat
music driving
feet move
hips and shoulders
we spin
your eyes dancing
sweat
sharing singer's breath
movement never stops
settles spinning
inside

comfortable silences
end of day
jumbled cuddle
catching breath
stitching life's
disparate threads
